Redditch Station Tactile Installation Scheme
Serfis Construction and Engineering were appointed contractor to assist Network Rails internal delivery team in the installation of tactile paving to several stations along the LWN route one of which being Redditch Station.
Our Involvement
Serfis Construction and engineering attended site with our PTS qualified inhouse surfacing and civils teams during midweek and weekend planned possessions to plane off the required areas for installation of the tactile paving and supporting 400mm tarmac strip behind to ensure no issues with varied levels which were left because of the new installation. Our team assisted with the preparation and installation of the new tactile paving before installing renewing the area of platform surface required.
Problems Faced / Solutions Offered
In-between shifts the platform must be operational meaning continues monitoring during the possession was key to ensuring the works did not overrun effecting the stations normal operations, our onsite foreman played a pivotal role in ensuring our targets for each shift were met and the platform was operational for the following morning.
Summary
The work was successfully delivered working with NWR to a high standard which has seen the scheme given praise from a varied audiences such as the train operating companies, passengers, members of the client’s organisation to name a few. Following the successful delivery of this scheme Serfis have been invite to continue to assist with further works of this type currently planning in numerous stations which carry the same requirements.
